Drawing on my own Board level medical and public health leadership career, I can provide you with a safe and confidential partnership to help you to stretch and grow, reach your potential, develop your capacity to take on greater levels of responsibility and complexity, feel confident, to be effective in increasingly ambiguous and complex strategic and system wide roles – and to take care of yourself at the same time.
To gain insight and increase your self-awareness, we can also use validated leadership 360′ or self-assessment feedback processes.
Leadership Coaching usually takes place as a longer term coaching partnership than Career Coaching or Wellbeing Coaching, and can also include any elements of these programmes as part of a mixed programme: every coaching programme is bespoke to your specific needs, with clear goal setting at the start of our relationship together.
Many of my clients work with me over a several year period as they navigate through highly complex and demanding leadership and career challenges. Leadership coaching sessions are 90 minutes long, and are usually held 2-4 weeks apart for a minimum of six sessions.
Clear personal and professional goal setting at the start of your programme with mid-programme progress reviews; goals may be jointly agreed with your employer at your discretion
Bespoke evidence-based coaching interventions tailored to your specific needs and goals focusing on leadership development, wellbeing, and/or career development
Every session includes: session goal setting; review of experiential learning between sessions; work on session goal(s); reflection and summary of insights from the session; identification of specific between-session actions
Post-session email summary within 24 hours with self-directed learning materials to build theoretical knowledge and experiential learning
Post-session reflection process in line with GMC/ FPH / FMLM requirements for reflective practice, and pre-session planning process to help you to make the most of each session
Access to online client resources (wider reading, recommendations, podcasts etc)
Between session support from Fiona by phone and email during office hours
In person in Fiona’s consulting room in North Leeds, or online on Zoom or other platform of your choice (currently online only due to Covid-19)

Coaching is the most effective form of medical leadership development and public health leadership development
While there are a number of leadership development courses for doctors and public health leaders available, none of them address the personal self awareness needed to really flourish in your professional life as a senior public health or medical leader or medical manager at the depth or sustainability of 1:1 coaching. I can help you to develop the key public health and medical leadership skills you need to succeed in your medical leadership career or your public health career. Adults learn best through experiential learning over time and all of my coaching and mentoring programmes for medic leadership development and public health leadership development are unique and bespoke to you and your personal needs. All my coaching programmes are based on evidence based cognitive behavioural based interventions and use adult development theory and leadership theory to enable you to develop your medical management skills and medical leadership skills for doctors, and your public health leadership skills now and into the future.
