After many decades in medical and public health roles, including at Board and system level, I now work as a specialist Medical and Public Health Leadership Mentor. All mentors should use coaching skills, and I integrate coaching with mentoring and coaching psychology in a flexible way, based on your needs.

As a mentor for senior doctors and public health leaders, I specialise in your complex careers, leadership roles, and your wellbeing. I understand the needs of senior doctors in leadership roles, medical and public health leaders, and offer a highly confidential, safe, and calm professional mentoring service tailored to your unique needs.
My mentoring qualifications include being Individually Accredited as both a ‘Master Practitioner Coach and Mentor’ (European Mentoring and Coaching Council, EMCC) and a ‘Chartered & Registered Coaching Psychologist’ (British Psychological Society, BPS). Individual Accreditation is similar to medical and public health licensing and revalidation; a Chartered Coaching Psychologist is a legally recognised doctoral-level award.
I am accredited by the EMCC to teach Coaching and Mentoring Skills at Foundation Level (EQA), am an accredited Coaching Psychology Supervisor (RAPPS), and I am active as a researcher in my field. These activities ensure I am always up to date with the latest theory to underpin my coaching practice.
My clients are senior doctors with leadership responsibilities and/ or public health leaders in local, regional, national and international role, and are usually experts within their own fields. They wish to partner with an expert medical and public health leadership mentor to help them to fully achieve their career potential, and to support them through difficult professional and leadership challenges.
A rigorous academic evidence-base underpins my medical and public health leadership mentoring practice: the positive impact of my Coaching and Mentoring Programmes for senior doctors, medical and public health leaders was published in BMJ Leader in 2023. As a leader in my field of medical and public health leadership mentoring, I am actively involved in producing, contributing to, and synthesising coaching and mentoring research.
My research, teaching and supervision roles all enable me to remain at the leading edge of the evidence base, so that I can effectively support medical and public health leaders in the most challenging of professional circumstances.
